Olympic Games

Today on my way to school, I saw a lot of faces, half-covered by masks as usual. The only difference was that some of their masks were imprinted with three small but proud words, ‘Hong Kong Teams’. It reminded me of this year’s Olympic Games.

The Olympic Games were held in Tokyo from 23rd July to 8th August 2021. There were 11322 athletes participating in over 150 games, including table tennis, badminton, fencing and swimming. My favourite event is definitely fencing.

Sitting in front of the television on a hot summer day, the sweat was rolling down my cheek along with the thrill of witnessing a possible gold medal for Hong Kong for the first time in 25 years. At that moment, Edgar Cheung was 5 points behind with a result of 9 vs 14. I was very worried and shouted, “Don’t lose! Keep it up! Come on, go!” In the end, Edgar won the match! I was very delighted and proud of his hard work.

I like watching Olympic Games because I think sports are good for health. I am sure I will continue to love doing sports in the future.

The Olympic Games let me know we should never give up and nothing is impossible, we just need to do our best.
