A Valuable Lesson
Today was a sunny day. My family and I decided to go to Tai Po Sports Ground to watch an exciting cycling competition. After a long wait, the competition finally began.
The first to appear was a little girl with excellent skills, who maintained the lead. Suddenly, the little girl was tripped by other athletes and fell heavily to the ground. All the audience present exclaimed in surprise. I thought: What a pity! She might have won the first place originally, but now she might have to give up the competition.
She stood up immediately after falling, quickly picked up the bike and rejoined the race. She pushed off the ground as fast as a cheetah and soon caught up with the party.
At the last corner, she relied on her excellent cornering skills to cross the finish line with a slight gap difference to the second place. My heart was shaken. Even with such a huge mistake, she was almost, almost, able to become the champion.
During the post-match interview, everyone’s attention was focused on the little girl who missed the championship. She said confidently, ‘Some people will be filled with negative thoughts, become depressed, and even lose the motivation to do things after experiencing failure. However, for me, one failure cannot define one’s value. I am an athlete and I am not afraid of failure! No matter what the result is, I will try my best.’
The experience of this little girl in the competition taught me it is important to be resilient. From now on, whenever I face setbacks, the little girl’s determined eyes and courageous figure would appear in my mind, inspiring me to bravely face the challenges of life.
