Chinese New Year Journal

     I had a fun Chinese New Year holiday. I will never forget the time my cousin, Tao Rui, was two hours late for our family dinner!

     My family and I were getting ready for the dinner we had planned with my cousin, Tao Rui. We were getting dressed in our Chinese New Year clothing, but my mom and dad didn't have any Chinese New Year clothing, so it was only me and my brother, Adam. Our helper didn't have any Chinese New Year clothing either, but she helped me with my zipper and buttons, which I couldn't reach.

     Then, we all got into my mom's car. We planned to have the family dinner at San Mum Tasi, so that was where we went! When we got there, we were a bit early for our reservation, so we walked around until it was 6:00.

We sat at the table and waited for Tao Rui. We waited for almost 20 minutes until we got hungry, so we ordered some food. We were all very confused because by the time we finished the food, Tao Rui was still not there! So my father called him. Tao Rui said one of the water pipes in his house had exploded! When Tao Rui finally got there, we let him have some food. Then my mom drove us all home.

     We watched a Chinese New Year TV show until after 10:00. Mom drove Tao Rui back to his house. When she came back, we watched a Chinese New Year countdown together.

     I learned that even if a water pipe gets in the way, in the end, the most important thing is to have a happy time with your family.
