My Grandpa

From impression, my grandpa is a good-natured old man. His eyes may be small, but he can always see through other people’s minds! He is outgoing. Our neighbours like him very much. grandpa is certainly fond of me! He always buys snacks for me.

One day at the age of eight, I was taking a nap. Grandpa tried to wake me up. However, I was still sleepy and feeling unwell. He thought something was wrong with me, so he touched my forehead. I had a fever. Grandpa was caring. He took a wet towel and put it on my forehead.

Then, he cooked some congee and fed it to me. he also bought me some medicine and put me to bed. Finally, I had recovered the next morning.

I have many fond memories with my grandpa. He has taken care of me since I was a baby. He always mentions that I am his princess. Grandpa even taught me how to walk and do calligraphy. We visited Thailand and Japan together. We have spent lots of quality time together. He also took me back to our hometown – Fuzhou. We got on the boat and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. That was the sweetest day of my childhood!

However, all good things sadly come to an end. My grandpa passed away due to a sudden illness. I was heart-broken. I kept calling out to him, but no response. When grandpa’s body was carried into the coffin, I knew that from then on, I would never see my grandpa again.

Whenever I look at the photos of my grandpa, I ask - ‘If you had not left me, would you stand by me until I grow up?’ The pops up in my head.

Grandpa, you loved me very much, but I didn’t cherish it. I am now longing to lie in your arms again, and listen to you saying, ‘ I love you’.
